Salem Area Visiting Nurse Association

Compassionate Care Since 1919

Who We Are

Our Mission:

The Salem Area Visiting Nurse Association provides quality care to individuals of all ages, whose treatment is within the scope of our skills, technological equipment, and resources.  In conjunction with other community agencies, we service the residents of Columbiana county, lower Mahoning county, and other areas as needed.

In keeping with our community-based, not-for-profit status, we will seek to confine costs in ways not to conflict with quality care.

The Salem Area Visiting Nurse Association adjusts it’s services to meet the changing needs of the community, and provides the best possible home health care.

Our History:

Salem Area Visiting Nurse Association (SAVNA) is a non-profit home health agency located within the city limits of Salem, Ohio. SAVNA currently provides services to all of Columbiana County and the lower five townships of Mahoning County. We have been providing services to the community for over 100 years. The agency was started under the auspices of the National Red Cross in 1919, with the goal and purpose of visiting the sick and elderly community members. In 1950, the Salem Home Nursing Services incorporated as a non-profit agency. With the establishment of a Board of Directors one registered nurse, they began serving patients. In 1959, care was extended to include the residents of Perry Township.
